Talking Angela debuted the Talking Angela character, originally released in November 2012 for iOS and January 2013 for Android. Set in a chic café in Paris, the app focuses on real-time social interaction and fashion rather than the long-term nurturing found in the later virtual pet series.

Interactive Core Gameplay

The gameplay centers on direct interaction with Talking Angela through touch and voice mechanics.

  • Signature Interaction: Talking Angela repeats any words spoken into the device's microphone in her own unique voice.

  • Poking and Reactions: Players can pet Talking Angela to see her purr, or poke her to see various lighthearted reactions.

  • Action Buttons: Specialized on-screen buttons trigger unique animations:

    • Gift Box: A waiter brings Talking Angela a wrapped gift.

    • Drink: Talking Angela is served a drink, which can trigger visual side effects, such as making the screen appear dizzy.

    • Fortune Cookie: Talking Angela reads out a quote or words of wisdom from a heart-shaped cookie.

    • Birds: Talking Angela can throw seeds to feed a flock of birds that fly across the screen.
